Daniel ‘Dan’ E. Piper, age 67, Masontown, Pa., passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Jefferson Hills, Pa.

He was born in Ohio on Saturday, July 19, 1947 the son of Earl Piper and the now late Martha (Cress) Piper.

‘Dan’ worked 25 years as a Supervisor at Renzenberger, Inc., Brownsville, Pa.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, big family dinners, fun times with his grandchildren, and ‘his glass of wine and his unlit cigarette’.

He was not only a father and loving husband of 37 years, but he was our best friend, our shoulder to cry on and our helping hand. May the winds of heaven blow softly and whisper in your ear how much we love and miss you and wish that you were here.

In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his step mother, Elizabeth Piper; daughter, Sally Jean Piper; sister, Patty Landman; and brother, Jerry Piper.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Violet (Johnson) Piper, and children Danielle (Matthew M.) Piper of Ronco, Pa., Johnny (Jenn R.) Piper of Ronco, Pa.; children from his first wife: Daniel Piper Jr. (Bev)of Point Marion, Pa., Christopher ‘Sam’ (Jenn) Piper, Smithfield, Pa., Debbie Piper of Masontown Pa., Michelle Fowler, Masontown, Pa.; 25 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and stepchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, 7 River Ave., Masontown, Pa., on Thursday, August 7, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, August 8, 2014 until 1:00 p.m., the hour of Service in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Ruble officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery, Masontown, Pa.
