Orvle Kenneth Poland

It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the passing from this world to the next of Orvle Kenneth Poland. He left this life on Friday, August 8, 2014 at home in Grindstone, Pennsylvania.
Born on Wednesday, August 28, 1912, Orvle passed just shy of his 102nd birthday.

Orvle was a true ‘Renaissance Man’ without the diploma, but a Ph.D. in common sense
He built his own house from bottom to top with wiring and plumbing included. He worked at the glass plant, was a steel worker, farmer, plumber, night watchman, custodian, hunter and trapper. During the Great Depression, he provided for his family more by hunting and trapping than working on the farm.
He had a never stop attitude and do your best approach to life that lifted everyone around him.
He loved his family, his dogs, his tractors and his Wheaties.
He was an example to everyone who knew him about how one should live this life with dignity, compassion, integrity, faith, and an eye to the future.
Orvle was twice married. On Wednesday, September 14, 1932 he married Mable Irene Martin. Mable died on Tuesday, November 4, 1980. On Thursday, October 1, 1981, he married Hazel Genevieve (Shrontz) Rhoades. Hazel died on Saturday, October 9, 1982.
