A Uniontown woman who allegedly signed another inmate’s name to get bonded out of prison in June waived her preliminary hearing Tuesday.

Evelyn Grace Campbell, 28, of Morgantown road was free from the Fayette County Prison for less than 24 hours when she allegedly posed as another inmate who was having a bond posted for her. That inmate’s name was Marretta Gambel, but a corrections officer in the county lockup thought officials requested Evelyn Campbell, police have said.

Instead of alerting authorities to the mix up, Campbell signed Gambel’s name and left the prison on June 6.

After hearing police were looking for her, Campbell turned herself in the next day.

She faces charges of escape, forgery and identity theft, and will be arraigned in Fayette County Court next month.
