John Merle Jackson, age 87, of Dunbar, Pa., passed away in his home Saturday, November 29, 2014.

He was born Saturday, October 22, 1927 in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania son of Barton Jackson and Alice (King) Jackson

John was a member of Kentuck Union Church.

He was retired from Kaiser Refactory at Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War and was a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12019 in Normalville.

John was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Zelda P. (McClain) Jackson; three sisters and three brothers.

Surviving are four children: Judy Bevans and husband Larry of Uniontown, Pa., Pamela Denning and husband John, Oakland, Maryland John R. Jackson and wife Kitty of Dunbar, Pa., and Jack B. Jackson and wife Sharon of Ohiopyle, Pa.; eight grandchildren and twelve great grand children; one sister, June Raymond, Lemont Furnace, Pa.; one brother Jack B. Jackson and wife Ethel of Chalk Hill, Pa.; and a special niece, Tammy Jackson.

Friends will be received in DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, FARMINGTON, Pa., Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Visitation continues on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in the KENTUCK UNION CHURCH, State Road 2010, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., the hour of the Service with the Rev. Lee Maley officiating.

Interment will follow in Franklin Cemetery, Dunbar, Pennsylvania.

The family requests donations be made in John Jackson’s name to Amedisys Hospice at 1368 Mall Run Road, Suite 624, Uniontown, PA 15401 or to their Connellsville area at 109 Crossroads Road, Suite 400, Scottdale, PA 15683.
