Uniontown man shot in Brownsville police chase
A 40 year-old Uniontown man was shot following a police chase late Friday in Brownsville.
State police said Travis Musgrove was injured in the left hand and left shoulder as a result of the incident.
According to police, Fayette County 911 dispatched the Brownsville Police Department around 11:44 p.m. to a residence on Green Street.
Trooper Stefani Plume said an officer initially observed Musgrove driving a black and silver Dodge truck that was stopped at Sheldon Avenue and Green Street.
Police were also aware of an active warrant for Musgrove for a previous incident.
As an officer approached the vehicle, police said, Musgrove sped across the sidewalk and struck a street pole before continuing east on Green Street.
Police said Musgrove then turned left onto Thornton Alley and drove into a residential yard on the east side. He then turned around and traveled back across the alley where he destroyed a fence located off the west side.
Musgrove then proceeded to strike three unattended vehicles that were parked off the roadway on the west side of Thornton Alley, police said.
Musgrove reportedly drove back across Thornton Alley and into a yard behind 238 Clover St., where he struck and destroyed a storage shed and came to a stop with the officer behind him.
As Musgrove was attempting to turn his vehicle around, police said, the officer exited his vehicle and commanded Musgrove to stop and exit the vehicle.
Police said Musgrove then placed the vehicle into reverse and accelerated toward the officer who was standing in front of it.
As Musgrove accelerated toward the officer, he fired and struck the vehicle.
Police said the rear of Musgrove’s truck then struck the right rear of the officer’s patrol vehicle with his K-9 inside.
After impact, police said Musgrove struck a residence at 236 Clover St., causing significant damage.
When the vehicle appeared to be stuck, police said, Musgrove tried to dislodge it, still ignoring the officer’s commands as another officer arrived on scene.
Concerned for the safety of the occupants of the residence and the officers involved, police said, officers again fired shots at Musgrove.
Police said Musgrove stopped trying to dislodge the vehicle but continued to ignore the officer’s commands.
Musgrove was eventually taken into custody by police and is being charged.
State police in Belle Vernon are investigating the incident.
