Arthur Joseph Chalfant

Arthur Joseph Chalfant age 56, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Monday December 15, 2014 at home following a lengthy battle against cancer.

Art was born on Friday October 24, 1958 in Uniontown, Pa., son of Carrie Lillian (Wingard) Chalfant of Uniontown and the late Arthur Higgenbotham Chalfant.

Art graduated from Laurel Highlands High School, Class of 1976.

Art attended ICM Business School where he received his degree in Computer Programming and began working for Fayette Steel.

After his time with Fayette Steel, Art went to Sony Corporation, New Stanton, Pa., where he was an Instrumentation Technician.

Art’s career then led him to The Elliott Group, Jeannette, Pa., where he worked as an Engineer II

Through the years, Art played Bass Guitar for numerous bands, including his latest band “Redrum”.

Art enjoyed the outdoors — especially when fishing, wood working and gardening (growing his own plants from seeds).

Art was known for always helping others; whether repairing their computers, teaching them math, working on their cars, or home repairs, Art was there.

In addition to his father, Art was predeceased by a grand son, Kellan Edward Chalfant.

In addition to his mother, Art is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Florence Jean (Bush) Chalfant; his two daughters: Kristina Elizabeth Chalfant of Uniontown, Pa., and Angela Marie (Chalfant) Firestone Hill and her four children of Brownsville, Pa.; his brother, Timothy Scott Chalfant of Footedale, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Art’s family expresses their gratitude to Pish Medical Associates Inc., Dr. Josef J. Vanek, M.D., UPMC Cancer Center, UPMC Radiation Center, The Uniontown Hospital, Amedisys Hospice, and The Elliott Group.

Friends will be received in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME 123 South First Street, West Side, Connellsville, PA 15425 (724.628.9033) Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dave Stewart officiating.

Interment will follow in Normalville Cemetery.
