Jerome “Jerry” M. Andria

Jerome ‘Jerry’ M. Andria, age 61, passed away peacefully at his home in Smithfield, Pa., on Friday, December 12, 2014 with his loving family by his side.

‘Jerry’ was born on Sunday, November 22, 1953 in Uniontown, Pa., a son of Joseph ‘Shorty’ Andria and Stella (Kuznar) Andria.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Brown; and a nephew, Nathan Andria.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sheila (Taylor) Andria; children: Sara Elizabeth Andria and friend Andrew Bollinger of Richmond, Virginia and Joseph Norman Andria and partner Jordan Musser of Morgantown, West Virginia; two brothers: William Andria and his wife Holly of Noblesville, Indiana and Lawrence Andria of Pittsburgh, Pa.; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Taylor, Cumberland, Maryland; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Finan and husband Tim of Cumberland Maryland nieces and nephews: Rebecca Andria, Corrine Andria, Patrick Brown, Tim Brown, Jason Andria, Todd Finan and Megan Finan.

Jerry served Fayette County’s Juvenile Court for 38 years, first as Probation Officer and then Chief Juvenile Probation Officer.

During his tenure as Chief (1985-2012), Jerry helped to make significant changes in the Juvenile Probation Office which ultimately led to a greater presence in the area schools and communities.

After retirement, he continued to work with struggling youth as a Compliance Officer for Alternative Living Solutions in Greensburg, Pa.

His commitment to rehabilitating Fayette County’s delinquent youth will leave a lasting legacy.

Jerry was a life-long member of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church in Fairchance, Pa., where he could often be found in the kitchen preparing food for the biannual spaghetti dinners.

Jerry was a loving husband and dedicated father.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife and loved to prepare large meals for his friends and family.

He was also an active athlete having finished eight marathons.

To some, he was known as the ‘Commissioner’ of FNGL (Friday Night Golf League).

Jerry’s family would like to offer a sincere thanks to doctors, nurses and staff at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and the staff at Fayette Home Care and Hospice.

A special thanks to close friends for their love and support.

Jerry’s family will receive friends today, December 19, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the GOLDSBORO-FABRY FUNERAL HOME INC., 21 East Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., John M. Fabry, Supervisor.

A Funeral Mass will be said on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, 50 North Morgantown Street, Fairchance, Pa., with the Rev. Father Jaime Sullan Ozoa as Celebrant. (EVERYONE MEET AT THE CHURCH).

A Vigil Service will be held in Funeral Home today, Friday, December 19, 2014 at 6 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made in Jerry’s name to a local charity of your choice.

Visitation was also held Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m
