Samuel Clair “Sam” Smith
Samuel Clair Smith, age 74, of Brownfield, Pa., died on Thursday, December 18, 2014 with his family by his side after a strongly fought battle with cancer and went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ.
He was born Friday, April 19, 1940 to the late James ‘Pat’ Smith and Ethel (Thompson) Smith.
Samuel married Emily ‘Sis’ Taylor on Tuesday, June 12, 1962. They were married 47 years before her death in 2009.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his wife and parents, were an infant son, Samuel ‘Sparkey’ Smith Jr.; two brothers, Wendall ‘Butch’ Smith, Bob Smith
Surviving are his daughter Sandra Parsons and husband Timothy and their children, Sam’s beloved grandchildren, Timothy Parsons Jr. ‘T.J’ and Katie Parsons all of Perryopolis, Pa. Also surviving are brothers: James and wife Helene, Bill, and Don; and sisters: Kate Schartiger and husband Eugene, Ethel Verbus, Sue Casey and husband Danny.
In addition to his siblings, Samuel is survived by his ‘brothers and sisters in love’: his wife sisters and their spouses: Goldie and Terry Hagedorn, Nettie Nottingham and Dale, Patti and Vince Demaske, Mary Lou and Carl Planiczka, and Laura Nottingham and Bill Danko; many loving nieces and nephews; and his very dear friends: Frank and Margie Zentkovich and their daughters Francie and Tamala.
Services were held in DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., on Saturday, December 20, at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Terry Hagedorn officiated.
