Police accuse South Connellsville man of stabbing
Police have accused a South Connellsville man of stabbing someone in the neck and chest Monday morning.
Matthew Taylor Sanner, 20, faces charges of attempted involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
According to the criminal complaint, the alleged assault was reported around 12:11 a.m. in the front yard at 107 W. Painter St. in South Connellsville.
Police in the borough said that when they arrived at the scene, the victim — whom they have not identified — was lying on top of Sanner. The victim allegedly told police, “He stabbed me in the neck and chest. I need an ambulance,” according to court papers. Police alleged that Sanner stabbed the person multiple times in the neck and chest.
In a brief affidavit attached to the complaint, police did not indicate what led to the alleged stabbing, nor did they indicate how the person who was stabbed may have known Sanner.
Fayette County 911 said the alleged victim was flown via medical helicopter to UPMC-Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.
Sanner was arraigned Monday by Magisterial District Judge Richard Kasunic II, who set bond at $100,000. Sanner was taken to Fayette County Prison.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 8.
