Ronald E. Gouker Sr., age 70, Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at home with his wife Adrienne at his side after a six year battle with renal cancer.

‘Ron’ was born in Connellsville, Pa., on Friday, March 31, 1944 the only child of John Wesley Gouker and Ethel (Ashman) Gouker of Dunbar, Pennsylvania.

Ron graduated from Connellsville High School with the class of 1962.

He served his military obligation with the Pennsyl-vania National Guard in Scottdale, Pa.

Ron married Adrienne Cantini on Saturday, November 18, 1967 and became the father of Adrialee Gouker on Thursday, June 10, 1971 and Ronald E. Gouker II on Sunday, March 30, 1975.

Ron Gouker and Bob Lowe started their garage door business in 1970 and built it to be the largest garage door company in the area.

Ron took over the company in 1978 and was sole owner and operator of the company until present; a total of 44 years.

He lived his life for his family and his business.

He was very conscientious about providing the highest quality garage doors and the best service to his customers.

He was most proud of the fact that his son, Dr. Ronald E. Gouker took over the business when he became ill, and is now providing the same top quality product and service that has become expected by his customers.

Left to cherish Ron’s memory is his wife, Adrienne B. (Cantini) Gouker, with whom he celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on November 18, 2014.

Also surviving are his daughter, Adrialee B. (Gouker) Duncan and her husband James L. Duncan Jr.; and his son, Dr. Ronald E. Gouker and his wife Courtney (Baker) Gouker.

Four grandchildren also survive: Andrew Quenten Duncan, Adam Joseph Duncan, Quenten Joseph Gouker, Isabella Abbeygayle Gouker.

Ron is also survived by his four-legged friends who were his constant companions and Therapy Dogs during his long battle with cancer: Boston Terriers Beebe, Boomer and Blossom, and English Bulldog, Bristol, will all miss those long days keeping Ron company and sitting with him. His feline companions, Sam, Socks and Sass,y gave him much comfort and liked to cuddle on his lap.

Ron’s loyal therapy dog ‘Bella’ died from cancer during Ron’s illness leaving him heartbroken.

Preceding Ron in death were his parents, John Wesley Gouker and Ethel (Ashman) Gouker. Also preceding him in death were his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Quenten Joseph ‘Wedo’ Cantini and Therese Louise (Holly) Cantini.

The family would like to thank the Doctors at Shady Side Hospital and the Hillman Cancer Center for six long years of concern and devoted care for Ron’s illness with special thanks to Oncologist Dr. Leonard Appleman, Urologist Dr. Jodie Maranchi, and Neuro Surgeons Dr. Arlen Mintz and Dr. Jonathan Engh, and Radiation Encologist Dr. Steven Burton, and Phlebotomist Danisha Edwards, who was always so gentle and caring to Ron.

Special thanks to nurses Regina and Denise from Amedisys for their loving care to Ron during his final days

Thanks also to special friends who remained loyal and caring throughout the toughest times: Tom Carney, Bob Semsey, Bob Mertz, Denise Dinsmore, Judy Abraham and Judy Fish; your love and loyalty are greatly appreciated by the family.

Thanks also to our neighbors who were always there to offer support and comfort with visits, food and cards especially: Vickie, Janice and Mary Nancy.

Also thank you Walt and Amy Lizza for all of your help, advice and concern.

The family will receive friends and family in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today, December 28th, 2014 from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Monday morning until 9:15 a.m. when Parting Prayers will be said.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at the Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor Michael W. Matusak, V.F., Pastor as Celebrant.

Interment follows in Mt. Macrina Cemetery.

Visitation was also held Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Parish Wake Services will be held in funeral home today at 3 p.m.
