Police allege that a Uniontown man wrote a note on toilet paper that claimed that he was being threatened with a gun to rob Michael Maria's Pizza Saturday night. Police said shortly after the man's arrest, his alleged ruse fell apart.

Police said a Uniontown man used a note written on toilet paper during an alleged attempted robbery Saturday night.

Lieutenant Tom Kolencik, Uniontown police, said when Eric Frey allegedly attempted to rob Michael Maria’s Pizza at 142 East Fayette Ave., he handed the clerk a piece of toilet paper that said, “There is a gun on me — give me $300.”

Soon after clerks alerted authorities, Frey’s alleged ruse about how someone was threatening him with a gun so that he would rob the store fell apart when police arrived.

Kolencik said during the course of the investigation, he went with Frey to Frey’s apartment. Kolencik said he discovered an ink pen next to the roll of toilet paper where Frey allegedly wrote the note he had inscribed for Michael Maria’s.

That was not the only thing police found in Frey’s apartment. Police uncovered drug paraphernalia and 3.1 ounces of marijuana, Kolencik said.

Kolencik said Frey, 30, was charged with attempted robbery, theft, possession with intent to deliver and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains in Fayette County Prison.
