Ivan E.(Gene) Hager, 78, of Farmington, Pa., passed away Monday, February 3, 2014, in his home.

He was born March 8, 1935, in Farmington, son of the late Ivan and Emma Humberson Hager. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Jack Hager and a grandson, Eric E. Hager, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Saluga) Hager, whom he married November 10, 1956; two children: Eric E. (Rick) Hager and wife, Wendy, Erin Jane McClelland and husband, Scott of Farmington; his three grandchildren, the joys of his life: Holly Lynn McClelland Holliday and husband, Kirk, Lindsay Bree Hager, Cassie Lea Bogdanow Sirkovskey and husband, Igor; sisters: Jenny Jordan and husband, Arley of Alabama, Sandy Wilson and husband, Bill of Farmington and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by his faithful dog ginger and his two mules.

Gene was a member of Sansom Chapel United Methodist Church. He was employed with 32 years of service Penn Dot, he was forest fire warden with 50 years of service with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He was a life member of the Wharton Furnace Hunting and Fishing Club and a former member of the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department.

Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, FARMINGTON, today from 1 to 8 p.m. and Thursday until 11 a.m. the hour of the service with Carol Friend CLM officiating. Interment will be in Sansom Chapel Cemetery.

The family requests donations be made to Sansom Chapel United Methodist Church or Fayette Friends of Animals.
