Uniontown authority approves loan resolution

By Christine Haines chaines@heraldstandard.Com 1 min read

The Uniontown Downtown Business District Authority approved a resolution Tuesday that will allow Fayette County Community Action Agency Inc. to take advantage of low interest rates for another 15 years.

“It’s to refinance the Family Service Center, the second building on our campus, built in 1997,” said Jim Stark, executive director of Fayette County Community Action.

Ernie DeHaas, solicitor for Fayette County Community Action, said the resolution does not obligate the authority or the city to repay any of the $1.67 million bond. The full cost falls on Fayette County Community Action. DeHaas noted that it is a continuation of a program started with the 1997 construction.

Stark said the partnership with the business authority has helped Community Action make its money go farther and has benefited the community as well.

“Our building has helped to develop the downtown area,” Stark said. “It’s been a wonderful partnership with the Uniontown Downtown Business District Authority for the past 15 years, and we look forward to the next 15.”
