FAA: Fayette Airport needs to address deficiencies
DUNBAR TWP. — Fayette County Airport Authority briefly discussed Wednesday some directives the Federal Aviation Administration wants to see corrected.
Authority Solicitor William Martin said there was a conference call between the FAA and a couple of authority members among other affected parties Tuesday.
Martin said the deficiencies the FAA wants to see addressed include how non-aeronautical items shouldn’t be stored in aeronautical areas, improvements made to leases, charging fair market value among other items.
Martin said the FAA was interested more in progress that is being made now and in the future toward resolving these issues.
“We were concerned about getting to the heart of what the issues are so that we can correct those,” Martin said.
“The meeting was not so much — you got to fix these — so much as we want to know where you are.”
In other business, the authority wants two of the airport’s tenants to pay their bill.
Airport Manager John Neckerauer said Aviation Network owes more than $8,000, while Helicopter Analytics has about $1,500 past due. Authority Chairman Bill Gerke said if the tenants do not pay their bills, then other measures will taken.
He directed Martin to begin the process intended to collect the money and/or rid the airport of these two companies.
“Time to pay or time to go,” Gerke said.
In other matters, the authority hired Shana Kallok part-time as an administrative assistant at $10.50 per hour.
It was also established that Kallok would be working no more than 30, but no less than 20 hours per week.
