Elyssa Evans

The Education Council of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce honored Elyssa Evans of Uniontown as a Student of the Month for December.

A junior at Laurel Highlands High School, Evans is involved in school activities that include musicals, Art Club, Spanish Club, Math Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions, yearbook production, Junior Achievement, track and Drama Club. Additionally, she has been student of the nine weeks for physical education and advanced painting.

Outside of school, Evans has work experience at Carlo’s Pizza Palace and in child care and is involved in Relay for Life, volunteering at Mount St. Macrina and Fayette Friends of Animals, and helping at a Multiple Sclerosis fundraiser. Additionally, she has collected for Toys for Tots and taught Vacation Bible School at St. Therese.

Evans plans to attend college to study psychiatry with the goal of achieving the highest degree in psychiatry and working in a psychiatric hospital or opening her own practice. She is a daughter of Melissa Michael and Eric Evans.

The chamber’s Student of the Month program selects students based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and citizenship.
