A Fayette County man serving 12½ to 25 years behind bars for sexually assaulting two young girls and other crimes is now facing new charges for threatening to kill the president and kidnap and kill a member of his family.

Joseph Howard Savage, 34, of West Leisenring, who was deemed a sexually violent predator under Megan’s Law last year in Fayette County Court, was indicted by a federal grand jury Tuesday for sending a letter detailing the torture and death of President Barack Obama and also threatening to kill an undisclosed member of his family.

According to U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton, Savage sent the letter in the fall of 2012 and threatened the acts of violence against Obama and his family following his release from prison.
