The Mountain Weatherman: Winter Storm Brewing
The snow showers ended yesterday morning and we had a sunny afternoon that didn’t do much to warm the arctic air. The high yesterday was 19, a new record minimum high temperature,, the overnight low -2, also a record, and at 7AM we were 11 windy degrees under partly cloudy skies. There was just a trace of precipitation with 11 inches of snow on the ground. We’ll have yet another cold front crossing the area this afternoon that could touch of a few snow showers then we’ll drop to near 0 again tonight. Very cold tomorrow before a winter storm starts to affect us sometime on Saturday. We’re going to be right on the fence between a wintry mix and mainly snow all the way into Sunday night then it looks like all snow for Monday.. The places where it’s ‘all snow will see a lot of it, but we’ll have to wait and see what we get here in the mountains. What we do know for sure is that the well below normal temperatures will continue through next week.
