John Plishka
John Plishka, 83, of Smithfield, PA, passed away February 25, 2014, at West Virginia University Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
He was born in Denbo, PA., on April 20, 1930, the son of the late Harry and Mary (Petyo) Plishka.
He was a 1949 graduate of Point Marion High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Before retiring, he was employed as a miner at Shannopin Mine, Bobtown, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Anna Plishka.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Frances (Soukup) Plishka; daughter, Anna Mary Plishka and granddaughter, Angela; son, John Plishka, wife Erika and grandchildren: Cassandra, Lydia and Joel of Elkins, WV; sisters: Eva Truntich, Mary Burnsworth and Nancy Tyma all of Florida; brothers: Michael Plishka of Chardon, OH and Herbie Plishka of Mt. Morris, PA; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, 7 River Avenue, Masontown, Pa, today, February 28, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday until 10 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Father Jerome Botsko officiating.
Interment at Fairview Cemetery, Masontown, PA.
Military rites will be accorded by Masontown VFW Post 4584 and American Legion Post 423.
