Police probe violent home invasion in Masontown
Masontown police said they are searching for four suspects who fled from a residence early today after assaulting people inside the home and then forcing one of the residents from the house to an ATM in an attempt to steal cash.
Police chief Joe Ryan said the incident occurred at 613 N. Water St. around 4 a.m. when four black men, all wearing masks and armed with handguns, forced their way into the residence.
Once inside the suspects assaulted three men who were at the residence and tied them up.
“They then threatened a child that was at the home before forcing one of the men, who was visiting the residence, to leave with them and travel to an ATM. When he was unable to withdraw cash, they then drove the victim to his residence and stole cash from the house before fleeing,” Ryan said.
He said that the victims, whose identities have not been released, all refused medical treatment following the incident despite suffering injuries.
“We had Fayette EMS respond and they were pretty bloodied but they all refused,” Ryan said.
He noted that a gun was also stolen from the residence.
The suspects are allegedly traveling in a rented white Ford Focus. Ryan said that police have issued a bulletin for other police departments to be on the look out for the vehicle.
