Connellsville police charge two with drug, weapons offenses
Connellsville police charged two juveniles, a 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old male, Saturday with alleged drug and weapons charges during a traffic stop in Dunbar Township.
Police said two juveniles were charged with criminal conspiracy, possession with attempt to deliver a controlled substance, resisting arrest and possession of firearms with altered manufactured serial numbers.
Police said the estimated street value of the suspected heroin is between $3,500 and $4,000.
Police said the charges stem from what began as a traffic stop around 1:52 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of West Crawford Avenue and 11th Street. Police said the vehicle did not stop but proceeded to Dunbar Township before coming to a stop on Broadway Street.
Police said a passenger exited the front seat of the vehicle and began to run while carrying a black book bag.
Police said while officers chased the running suspect with the police car, the suspect’s car tried to leave the area but was later spotted on Boyd Street.
Police said they took control of the suspect’s vehicle and located the suspect who fled on foot.
Police said four people were taken into custody.
Police said the black book bag contained three loaded handguns and four bricks of suspected heroin.
Police said they did not believe that the two passengers within the vehicle were aware of the drugs and guns until police attempted to stop the vehicle. Police said the remaining two people, both juveniles, were charged with alleged drug and weapons offenses.
