James “Veach” Breakwell

Veach Breakwell, age 71, of Fairchance, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.

He was born in Beaver, Pa. on Sunday December 27, 1942 the son of Jim Breakwell and Martha (Martin) Breakwell.

Veach was an active member of the Walnut Hill United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed music — especially singing — and was a car enthusiast.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served from 1960 until 1964.

His parents; a brother, Robert E. Breakwell; and a nephew, Allan Pletcher preceded him in death.

Veach is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Joyce (Hustead) Breakwell; two sons: Brian Douglas Breakwell of Uniontown, Pa., and Bradly Vance Breakwell of Cortland, New York; a grandson, Robert Cody Breakwell and his fiancee’ Megan Garlock of Lima, Ohio; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Margaret and Thomas Pletcher of Kannapolis, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Martha Surovchak Breakwell, Belle Vernon, Pa.; sister-in-law Jeannie Berg of Port Ludlow, Washington; nieces and n e p h e w: M e l i s s a Pletcher of Concord, North Carolina, Wendy Berg Witham, Fairbanks, A l a s k a, Rebekah Breakwell and husband Randy of Belle Vernon, Pa., Matthew Breakwell and wife Toni of Belle Vernon, Pa.; great nieces and great nephews: Matthew Pletcher and his wife Anna of Landis, North Carolina, and Lauren Pletcher Winslow and husband Nathaniel of Charleston, South Carolina; great great nieces and great great nephews: Andrew and Aviana Forringer, Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, Jayden Pletcher of Landis, North Carolina, and Luke and Gabriella Breakwell of Belle Vernon, Pa.

The family will greet friends and family in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, PA 15436 on Friday, July 4, 2014 from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Additional visitation on Saturday, July 5, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the WALNUT HILL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 132 Collier Road, Uniontown, Pa. A service celebrating his life will begin at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Arnold Husk and the Rev. Gene Stollings will officiate.

Interment in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
