Redstone Township police charged a Uniontown man accused of stealing $13,271 from a man he was caring for as a home-health care aide.

As an employee of a Uniontown home care business, David Edward Millero, 23, was to care for 60-year-old Daniel Mackillop, police said in a complaint filed on Thursday.

Mackillop told police that when he fell asleep at his home, Millero would would take his two bank cards, which were inside a pouch tied to his wheelchair. Millero would then leave Mackillop’s home Roes Run Smock Road, and make ATM withdrawals. The withdrawals occurred in March and April from Mackillop’s bank accounts with First National and PNC banks, the complaint said.

According to the criminal complaint, Mackillop said Millero knew his bank card PIN numbers from going to the grocery store with him, as they would get cash using his bank cards.

Police said that $13,271 was reported missing from Mackillop’s bank accounts.

Police said a review of video surveillance from the West Brownsville Walmart reveals Millero allegedly making bank withdrawals between March 28 and March 30, April 4 and April 18 from the store’s ATM.

According to court documents, Millero faces 264 charges including theft, receiving stolen property, access device fraud and identity theft.

The charges were filed before Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr.
