Elmer E. “JR” Wheeler Jr.

Retired Command Sergeant Major Elmer E. Wheeler Jr., known as ‘JR’, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014.
Mr. Wheeler was born on Tuesday, March 9th, 1943 in Brownsville, Pennsylvania.
JR was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He proudly served in the United States Army for 22 and a half years and retired in 1984.
Upon retirement, he entered the insurance business and retired in 2008.
He was a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign War (Post 8919), the El Paso Sergeants Major Association, and the American Legion Post 36
He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer E. Wheeler Sr. and Ethel (Tedrow) Wheeler; and a brother, Jim Wheeler.
He is survived by his loving family: wife, Pat; c h i l d r e n: K a t h y W i n c h e s t e (Rick), Bobbie Lynn Wheeler, Chris (Michelle) Lopez, Daniel (Jessica) Lopez; grandchildren: Brian, Jason, Brandon, David, Jessica, Brieanna, Ethan, Sebastian, Christian and Kristine; brothers: Don (Marcie) Wheeler, Bill (Gloria) Wheeler, Bruce Wheeler, Gerry Wheeler; in-laws, Victor and Suli Armendariz; sister-in-law, S a n d r a Montes; brothers-in-law: Victor Jr. (Loretta), Rene (Jeannie), Albert (Chole) and many nephews and nieces.
The Wheeler family received relatives and friends Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at FUNERARIA DEL ANGEL MARTIN EAST, 1460 George Dieter Drive, El Paso, TX 79936 (915.855.8881).
Graveside Service was held Friday, June 27, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
