SE Greene hires acting superintendent
The Southeastern Greene School Board approved a contract to hire the district’s assistant principal as acting superintendent on Monday during a continuation of last month’s meeting.
Last month, the board approved the resignation of current Superintendent William Henderson III, who served the district for four years. Henderson will move on to serve the Frazier School District as superintendent, and his resignation is effective Aug. 4, or sooner as determined by the board.
Business Manager Pat Sweeney said Rich Pekar was approved for the position in a unanimous vote. Pekar has served the district since October of 2012 as assistant principal for grades K-12. Sweeney said district officials have not made a decision about whether or not they will fill the assistant principal’s position while Pekar is serving as acting superintendent, but the officials do intend to look at the administrative structure to see what is needed.
He said Pekar is currently in the process of obtaining his administrative papers.
In other matters, the board hired Doug McIntyre as girls varsity softball coach for the 2014-15 school year.
The next regular meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on July 28 in the high school cafeteria.
