Russell R. “Jake” Brangard

Russell R. ‘Jake’ Brangard, age 84, of Fairchance, Pa., died on Wednesday, July 23, 2014.
He was born Sunday, August 11, 1929 in Fairchance, Pa., son of Theresa Brangard Dice.
Russell was a Master Sergeant in the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict.
‘Jake’ was the owner and operator of Green Top Excavating.
He loved his wife and family along with his life.
He always saw his glass half full, loved the beauty of nature, and enjoyed playing golf with his friends.
When he looked at our beautiful mountains, it was like he was seeing them for the first time!
There will be no one like him in our lives. We will miss him deeply.
For all those who loved him and he loved, we were blessed.
‘Jake’ was predeceased by his mother; by his wife, Velma (Fowler) Brangard; granddaughter Tanya Jane Spaw; and siblings James Dice, John Dice, Paul Dice, Ronald Dice, Amy Jane Tate, Sandra McCourt.
Surviving are his loving family: children, Theresa and her husband Paul Picosky of Fairchance, Pa., Russell Brangard and his wife Margaret of Smithfield, Pa., Michelle and her husband Greg Kimble of Fairchance, Pa., Tony Brangard and wife Cindy of Texas, Dave Brangard of Virginia, Becky and her husband Michael Christian of Virginia, Sam Brangard of Uniontown, Pa., Patty and her husband Mark Kephart of Fairchance, Pa; grandchildren: Justin Spaw, Ian Picosky, Angela Humphreys, Christie Layhue, Katelyn Brangard, Megan Brangard, Michael Brangard, Matthew Clark, Jacob Kephart, Emily Kephart and Alexandria Kephart; great grandchildren: Taylor Picosky, Madison Layhue, Mason Layhue; siblings: Harry Dice, Gene Dice and Mary Gail Dice; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful loving dog, Jackee.
The family will greet friends and family in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, PA 15436 on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, July 27, 2014 until 11:00 a.m., the hour of Service with Military Rites being accorded by AMVETS Post 103.
The family suggests as a token of sympathy that memorial contributions be made to the Fayette County SPCA at 215 Rankin Airshaft Road, or the Fayette Friends of Animals, both Uniontown PA 15401 in Jake’s name.
