Hiller man faces charges for assaulting police officer
A Hiller man accused of assaulting a police officer and fleeing had all charges held for Fayette County Court on Monday.
Police allege that James Holcomb Jr., 37, dragged a Redstone Township police officer several feet through a parking lot with his vehicle as he attempted to flee a traffic stop March 9 on New Salem Road.
The chase continued throughout the township before Holcomb surrendered to state police on Stone Church Road.
Police said the officer, John Brant, had injuries to his back and shoulder, and sustained a concussion.
Holcomb was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, aggravated assault by a vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol, fleeing a law enforcement officer, accident involving an injury, escape, driving under the influence of alcohol, flight to avoid apprehension, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and 14 traffic related offenses.
Holcomb is free on $75,000 unsecured bond.
