Bertha J. (Labutta) Kopas

Bertha J. (Labutta) Kopas, age 92, formerly of Shadyside, Georges Township, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2014 with her loving family by her side.
She was born Friday, September 23, 1921 in Collier, Fayette County, Pa., the daughter of Mike Labutta and Kathryn (Tomasovich) Labutta.
Bertha graduated from Georges Township High School, the Class of 1940.
She loved taking care of her farm for many years and had a great love for her cats, flowers and garden.
She also loved cooking, canning, baking ethnic foods for her family.
Bertha also enjoyed making/painting ceramic items for the various seasons and sharing them with her family and special friends.
Bertha was a very warm, kind and generous person who enjoyed going to family functions.
She was a lifelong member of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church in Fairchance, Pa., and The Confraternity of Christian Mothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Kopas on Friday, June 25, 1993; parents; her sister, Josephine Shenal; and brothers, Steve Labutta, Isadore Labutta, John Labutta and Victor Labutta.
Bertha was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Bertha is survived by her loving children: John A. Kopas Jr. and wife Mary Ann of Fairchance, Pa., Carole Migyanko and husband John of Uniontown, Pa., Dianne Covato and husband Anthony, Uniontown, Pa., and Michael Kopas and wife Cynthia, Uniontown, Pa.; loving grandchildren Attorney John A. Kopas III and wife Jennifer of Uniontown, Pa., Jeffrey Kopas and wife Cindy of Fairchance, Pa., James Kopas of Devon, Pa., United States Air Force Colonel (Retired) John M. Migyanko III and wife Lisanne, Canonsburg, Pa. Deborah M. Migyanko of Uniontown, Pa., Joseph M. Migyanko and wife Lynn of Washington, Pa., Lisa Balint and husband Mike of Hopwood, Pa., Nicole Fenlock and husband Matt, Pittsburgh Pa., Krystle Conkle and husband Bill, Uniontown, Pa.; eleven loving great grandchildren: Wesley and Jackson Kopas of Uniontown, Pa., Jeffrey, Patrick and Elise Kopas, of Fairchance, Pa., John M. Migyanko IV of Canonsburg, Pa., Hannah Marie and Joseph M. Migyanko Jr. of Washington, Pa., Bailey Balint, Hopwood, Pa., Addison and Evan Fenlock, Pittsburgh, Pa.; as well as several loving nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends and family in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, PA 15436 on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, August 2, until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, 50 North Morgantown Street, Fairchance, Pa., with Rev. Father Jaime Sullan Ozoa as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery Fairchance, Pa.
The Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary in the Funeral Home on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Parish Wake Service will be held in the
Funeral Home on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
