Anna C. “Honey” Scerba
Anna C. ‘Honey’ (Sieman) Scerba, age 91, of Herbert, Pa., passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in Uniontown Hospital.
She was born Saturday, December 16, 1922 in Isabella, Pa., daughter of Louis Sieman and J o s e p h i n e R o s e (Kubanda) Sieman.
She was a member of the former St. Procopius Roman Catholic Church, now Saint Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Footedale, Pa.
During World War II, Ann moved to Cleveland, Ohio and worked in B-29 Bomber Plants as a Riveter and Welder Girl.
Anna married her husband John on Saturday, June 22, 1946.
They operated an appliance business, the Fairbank Electric Company, for fifty years, first with her husband until his untimely death Wednesday, December 16, 1992, afterwards until her retirement in 1997.
Ann and John made many friends through their business where service to both customers and community always came first.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Scerba; her sisters and brothers, Mary Sheba, L o u i s Sieman, Rose Snozek and Joseph (Sim) Sieman.
Ann was the last remaining member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her two sons: John ‘JD’ Scerba of Herbert with whom she made her home and Larry Scerba and wife Mary Lisa of Warrenton, Virginia; five grandchildren: Sonia Minghi, Amy Scerba Karaszia, Teresa Rose Scerba, John Lawrence Scerba and Ann Kathryn Scerba; two great-grand children: Kayla Scerba and Armand Minghi; and a special nephew and niece: Ronald Sheba of Uniontown, Pa., Dorothy Snozek, Greensburg, Pa.
Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem, Pa., Sunday, June 22, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, June 23, until 9:30 a.m. when brief Prayers will be said in funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Footedale worship site, with Rev. Father William G. Berkey as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
A Parish Wake Service will be held in Funeral Home on Sunday at 7 p.m
