Jack D. Smith Sr.
Jack D. Smith Sr., age 86, died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at his home with his loving family at his side.
Born Sunday, May 20, 1928 in Norfolk, Virginia, he was the son of the late Walter Smith and Mildred (Doyle) Smith.
A veteran of World War II, Jack was a Frogman with the United States Navy and a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 747 in Point Marion.
Jack was a truck driver with the Teamsters for many years working in heavy construction.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years, Betty L. (Wilson) Smith; three children and their spouses: Linda and Roy Brewer of Point Marion, Ruth Ellen and Bruce Graham of Smithfield, Pa., and Jack and Sheryl Smith Jr. of Providence, North Carolina; 10 grand children; 15 great-grand children; and a brother, Walter Smith of Florida.
A daughter, Dora Ann Smith, passed away in 1964.
Friends will be received in RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, Pa., Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday, June 23, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Reverend Darrell Edgar officiating.
Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery New Geneva, Pa., where Military Rites will be accorded by the Point Marion Veterans Posts.
