Dunbar man accused of assaulting three women
State police charged a Dunbar man of aggravated assault after he allegedly assaulted three women at a North Union Township home.
Police said after spending the night, Kelly J. Martin, 48, of 34 Walnut Ave., wanted to have sex with Bonnie Shaley on the morning of May 4 at her home in North Union Township.
The couple got into an argument, police said, and Martin went to get their 2-month-old baby, who was lying in bed with Nicole Earnesty.
Earnesty and Martin then got into an arugment, police said, and Martin allegedly punched her in the head four or five times, and then assaulted Earnesty’s 16-year-old sister.
Police alleged Martin shoved the teen to the ground and punched her in the head several times.
When Earnesty attempted to come to her sister’s aid, Martin allegedly pulled her to the ground and punched her in the head too, the complaint said.
Police said when Martin argued with Shaley, he allegedly struck her right hand with a large wooden chair. Martin left the home, but returned a short time later, police said, and confronted Shaley and the teen, who were seated inside a car in front of their home.
The complaint said when Martin threatened to strike the car’s windshield, Shaley got out of the car and the two allegedly wrestled. During the course of their dispute, Martin allegedly used a chair leg to hit Shaley’s right hand and teenager’s right hand.
Police said Martin then fled the scene, but was apprehended a short time later.
According to the complaint, Martin was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of simple assault, two counts of recklessly endangering another person and three counts of harassment.
Martin’s bond is $30,000. He was taken to Fayette County Prison June 8.
His preliminary hearing had been scheduled for Wednesday in Magisterial District Judge Wendy Dennis’ court, but it has been rescheduled to a later date.
