Help with state programs, applications available
HARRISBURG — State Rep. Peter J. Daley II, D-California, is alerting residents to free help with state programs and applications available during July.
Help in the area will be available: from 10:30 a.m. to noon July 8 at Belle Vernon Apartments, 500 Blind Lane, Belle Vernon, from 9-11 a.m. July 14 at Center on the Hill, 100 Summit Road, Belle Vernon; from 1-3:30 p.m. July 14 and 28 at Marianna/West Beth Public Library, 247 Jefferson Ave., Marianna.
“As expected, the deadline to apply for a rebate on property taxes or rent paid in 2013 has been extended through the end of the year,” Daley said. “However, if you have not already filed an application, my offices can help, and we do it at no charge.”
The program provides a state rebate on property taxes and rent to residents 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older, and people with disabilities 18 or older. To be eligible, household income must be $35,000 or less if you are a homeowner, or $15,000 or less if you are a renter.
Daley also noted that his sixth annual Kidz Fair will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 9 at the Center in the Woods, 130 Woodland Court, Brownsville.
“It’s a free event for children through age 14 who live in the 49th Legislative District,” Daley said.
“We gather local and state resources for families and combine it with lots of fun events for the kids, so please consider stopping by.”
Reservations are not needed to attend. More information on the Kidz Fair or any state program is available by calling Daley’s Donora office toll-free at 1-800-467-9486.
