Ann C. (Toth) Vargo
Ann C. (Toth) Vargo, age 93, formerly of Footedale, Pa., passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 in Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown, Pa.
She was born Sunday, June 13, 1920 in Unity, Westmoreland County, Pa., the daughter of Andrew Toth and Anna C. (Kalinay) Toth.
Ann was a member of the former S a i n t P r o c o p i u s Roman Catholic Church, New Salem, Pa., where she was a member of The Rosary-Altar Society, The Christian Mothers, and The Procopians.
She was also the last Charter Member of the New Salem American Legion Unit 753 Auxiliary for sixty-three years where she was active in all phases of the Auxiliary.
She was presently a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Christian Mothers and the church’s Golden Group.
Ann was an Honorary member of Saint George Junior Tamburitzans in Cokeburg, Pa.
She also was a former member of the Ladies A u x i l i a r y of the Footedale Volunteer Fire Department.
Ann was a retired Cook from German Township High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Vargo in 1997; a son, David Vargo in 1989; two sisters, Mary Salek and Margaret Voytovich; brothers, Raymond Toth, Joseph Toth, Steve Toth and Michael Toth; and her parents.
Ann was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Sylvia Kifus and husband Barry of Mentor, Ohio, Bernadette Nusida and husband Jack of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Joann Matyus and husband Joseph Matyus Jr. of Masontown, Pa.; grandchildren: B a r r y Kifus, Mary Beth Torsell and her husband Ben, Michael Nusida and his wife Olive, Brian Nusida and wife Nicole, Joseph Matyus III, Jason Matyus and his wife Crystal, and Christina Frankenfield and her husband Keith; and sixteen great grand children.
Friends will be received in ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME INC., 20 North Mill Street, New Salem, Pa., today, May 1, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, May 2, 2014 until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Francis of Assisi Church, Footedale, Pa., with the Reverend Father William G. Berkey as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
New Salem American Legion Auxiliary Unit 753 will hold Services in the Funeral Home today at 7 p.m.
The Christian Mothers will hold a Wake Service today at 7:30 p.m.
