Genevieve Logan
Genevieve M. Logan, age 94, Connellsville, Pa., passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Peroni Personal Care Home, Uniontown, Pa.
She was born Tuesday, March 9, 1920 in Leisenring, Pa., daughter of Hugh D. Logan and Anna (Tikey) Logan.
Genevieve was a longtime member of Saint Vincent DePaul Roman Catholic Church in Leisenring until it closed in 2008 and then became a member of Saint Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Dunbar
For 75 years Genevieve had been a teacher in religious education (CCD Classes) at the parish and served as an organist for 73 years.
She as a member and past secretary of Our Lady’s Guild and was a Eucharistic Minister to home bound parishioners
Genevieve also served as Sacristan, Deanery President of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and a member of the Parish Council.
Also, she served as a member of the Secular Franciscans at the Saint Anthony’s Friary in Uniontown, Pa.
Genevieve generously contributed her time and energies and was truly devoted to her church.
At the age of 92, Genevieve received the Bishop’s Medal of Honor Award. The honor recognizes meritorious service to one’s parish and to the Diocese of Greensburg.
In addition to her parents; three brothers Bernard Logan, Regis Logan and Hugh David Logan Jr.; and nephew, Regis F. Logan Jr., predeceased Genevieve.
Genevieve is survived by her niece and five nephews: Patricia Logan Joseph and husband Robert of Pittsburgh, Pa., Daniel Logan and wife Linda of Farmington, Michigan, Dr. Bernard Logan and wife Laura of Baden, Pa., Dr. Hugh David Logan III and wife Debra of Lawton, Oklahoma, and David Logan, Connellsville, Pa.; 13 great nieces and great nephews; 26 great great nieces and great great nephews; and a sister-in-law, Grace Logan of Connellsville. Genevieve is also survived by her very dear close friends: Anne Schilling Detweiler and her husband Mark and their children Jayme and Dayne of Uniontown, Pa., Robert Schilling and his wife Amy and their son Lucas of Mount Pleasant, Pa., and James Schilling and his wife Janis and their children Jennifer and Michael of Macedonia, Ohio.
Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa., where a Blessing Service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. in St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Ranch Road, Dunbar, with Monsignor J. Edward McCullough and Rev. Father Peter L. Peretti as Concelebrants and Rev. Father Micah E. Kozoil presiding.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery Connellsville, Pa.
Parish Rosary will be recited in the Funeral Home on Friday at 4 p.m.
