One dead in Bitner house fire
A Bitner woman died in an early morning fire today. Firefighters from several area fire companies worked to contain a fire that destroyed the home. Brandon Richard, 22, said that his mother, Sheila Porter, was unable to escape the blaze and died.
While four people live in the home, Richard said that only he and Porter were home when the fire broke out after 8:30 a.m. The state police fire marshal is investigating the cause.
