Blanche Elizabeth (Porter) Pursglove, R.N.
Blanche Elizabeth (Porter) Pursglove, R.N., age 89, Brownsville, Pa., passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014.
She was born on Friday, July 4, 1924 in East Millsboro, Pa., the daughter of Ewing and Blanche (Harn) Porter.
Blanche was a 1943 graduate of Brownsville High School and a 1948 graduate of Brownsville General Hospital School of Nursing.
She was employed for a number of years as a Staff Nurse at Brownsville General Hospital.
She was a member of the South Brownsville United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she belonged to the Ladies Aide and was Membership Chairman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William R. Pursglove on Thursday, May 17, 1984; brothers W i l b u r, W i l l i a m, Kenneth, James, and Phillip Porter; and two sisters, Esther Vernon, Anna Mary Huffman.
Surviving are her two children: William C. Pursglove and his wife Geraldine of Uniontown, Pa., and Lynn Ann Smith and her husband James of Buffalo, New York; four grandchildren: Benjamin of Uniontown, Pa., Dr. Marci Pursglove, Pittsburgh, Pa., Jessica Overholt of Buffalo, New York and Carrie Smith of Buffalo, New York; great granddaughters: Alyson and Jillian Overholt; two sisters: Berthe Perna and Betty Bartolotti; a sister- in-law, Theresa Porter; nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, Pa., on Tuesday May 13, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 10 until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Reverend Jay Polowsky officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
