Greene Co. preparing for primary
WAYNESBURG — The Greene County Elections Board is gearing up for the May 20 primary.
The board on Thursday approved the termination of the polling place in Dunkard-Lower, First Baptist Church in Dilliner, and agreed to temporarily move the polling place to the Dana/Coresco Training Center in Dilliner.
Tina Kiger, county elections director, announced that the last day for voters to apply for absentee ballots is Tuesday and the last day for voters to return voted ballots is May 16. The elections office will be open until 5 p.m. on both days.
Kiger also said that election workers are still needed in the following precincts: Dunkard-Lower (one Democrat or Republican), Jefferson No. 2 (one Republican), Monongahela No. 2 (one Democrat and one Democrat or Republican), Morris (one Republican and one Democrat or Republican), Richhill (one Democrat or Republican), Springhill (one Democrat or Republican) and Wayne-West (one Democrat and one Democrat or Republican).
Kiger also announced that a sample voting machine is set up in the elections office for anyone who would like to practice on it. Also, the canvass board will be sworn in at 9 a.m. Friday, May 23.
