Teen charged with attempted homicide
State police have charged a Greene County man with attempted homicide after he allegedly shot a man on Saturday in German Township.
Police allege that Belmont Forsythe, 17, of Waynesburg shot James Renox, 23, of Masontown several times in his right and left upper arms with a .38-caliber revolver during a bonfire party in a wooded area off Leckrone-Masontown Road.
According to the criminal complaint, Renox was trying to break up a fight between Forsythe and another party guest when he was shot.
Police said someone drove Renox to Uniontown Hospital for treatment of the gunshot wounds. He was then taken to a Pittsburgh-area hospital for further treatment. His condition was not immediately available.
Masontown police apprehended Forsythe after a brief chase Sunday morning.
He faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, receiving stolen property, firearms not to be carried without a license and possessing instruments of crime.
Forsythe was arraigned Sunday by Fayette County Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr., and was taken to the county lockup on $250,000 bond.
