The National Pike Steam, Gas & Horse Association has a variety of activities planned this weekend marking the 41st annual National Road Festival.

Located on Route 40, four miles west of Brownsville, the organization houses and displays the equipment that was used to build the National Road, Route 40.

Many people are drawn to the grounds for the association’s vast collection of antique steam-, gas- and horse-driven machinery.

The show also features antique shovels and tractors, rock crushers and gas engines.

Events on Saturday and Sunday will include heavy equipment demos, rope making, a working blacksmith shop, horse and wagon rides, shingle making, sawing, kiddie train rides, a flea market and food, entertainment and craft vendors.

The Outpost Band will perform from 1-5 p.m. Saturday and the Shiz n’ Giggles Band will perform from 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

As in the past, admission is free to the event that is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
