Uniontown man charged with alleged rape
Redstone Township police arrested a Uniontown man Thursday with the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl.
Police allege that Keith MacHugh Amos, 29, sexually assaulted the girl while she was sleeping on a sofa in a living room Monday in Hunters Ridge Apartment in Redstone Township. She told police that she was a heavy sleeper.
The criminal complaint said the girl woke up to find Amos allegedly on top of her without a shirt on and with his pants pulled down. When she allegedly told him to stop, the complaint said, he allegedly placed his hand over her mouth and told her to shut up before proceeding to sexually assault her. Amos allegedly stopped after he heard someone walking down the stairs within the girl’s apartment. He then allegedly pulled up his pants and left the room.
The Herald-Standard does not name victims of sexual assault.
The complaint said Amos is charged with rape, rape of an unconscious person, unlawful sex with a minor, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault without consent, aggravated indecent assault with forcible compulsion, aggravated indecent assault of an unconscious person, unlawful restraint/serious bodily injury, terroristic threats and stalking.
Police said also allege that prior to the incident, Amos spoke with the girl via Facebook and text messaging. She alleges that she became concerned and began to feel frightened of Amos.
Redstone Township police also have charged Amos with simple assault and harassment in another matter related to the alleged incident.
Jamie Knox alleges that when she confronted Amos about what allegedly happened with the 16-year-old girl, Amos allegedly struck her in the face, grabbed her neck, shoved her and threw her to the floor.
Fayette County Magisterial District Judge Ron Haggerty Jr. arraigned Amos Thursday and set his bond at $250,000 unsecured.
