Mon Valley Hospital receives accreditation
Monongahela Valley Hospital in Monongahela received a three-year term of accreditation in Positron Emission Tomography (PET)/Computerized Tomography (CT) as a result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
PET/CT merges images produced by two separate sources. PET produces pictures of the function and metabolism of the cell of the body and CT produces pictures of the body structures. PET/CT images are acquired from both devices taken sequentially and combined into a single superimposed image.
The ACR accreditation is awarded to facilities meeting its guidelines and standards following a peer-review evaluated by board-certified physicians and medical physicists. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment and quality assurance programs are assessed.
