Eleanor Mae (Dziedzicki) Habina

2 min read

Beautiful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and great aunt, Eleanor Mae Habina 87, of Dunbar, Pa. peacefully resigned this life in calm and humble hope of Heaven on Thursday, May 22, 2014.

Eleanor Mae took her first breath on Sunday, January 23, 1927 in Star Junction, Pa., to Roman Dziedzicki, an aspiring Olympic gymnast from Poland, and his dark haired, bright-eyed bride Ethyl from Hungary. She was the third in line of eight brothers and sisters and ever the faithful caregiver.

She was employed at Anchor Hocking Glass Inc. and waited for her not-so-secret admirer, Joseph G. Habina, to return from the Korean War and make her a married woman in 1956.

The newlyweds began their life together as novice farmers and continued to defy norms by adopting two beautifully unique daughters from Greensburg Catholic Charities.

A member of Saint Aloysius Church for more than 50 years, she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and lived out her days as a model matriarch, citizen, parishioner and renowned baker.

This mover and shaker was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Jean, Ruth, and Isabelle; and brothers, Robert and Ralph.

She is survived by her partner-in-crime of 58 years, husband Joseph; her two daughters, Ruth and Susan, and their husbands Patrick Kozel and Andrew Seman; the six troublemakers she adored for keeping her feeling young: Joey, Annie, Emily, Danny, Kelsie, and Christie Sue; brother, Emmett and wife Ruth Ann, and brother, Arthur Dziedzicki; 14 plus nieces and nephews; 14 plus beloved great nieces and great nephews.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday in BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green St., Connellsville, PA 15425 (724.628.1430) where a Blessing Service will be held Tuesday, May 27, at 9:30 a.m.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Ranch Road, Dunbar, with Rev. Father Micah E. Kozoil and Monsignor J. Edward McCullough as co-celebrants.

A Committal Service and interment will follow atop the hill overlooking the place which holds memories of her child hood in the Bowman-Flatwoods Cemetery.

A Parish Wake Service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 2:30 p.m.
