James William Pike Sr. age 72, of Blairsville, Pa., passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at his home.

The son of George W. and Anna M. (Grey) Pike he was born on Sunday, December 21, 1941 in McClellandtown, Pa.

‘Jim’ was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent, Pa., and Men’s Fellowship and was very active working with the dinners of the church.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 493 in Homer City, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1488 in Blairsville, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1989 in Indiana, Pa., the BPOE 406 in Blairsville, Black Lick Sportsmen’s Club and the Blue Knights PA 19 of the American Association of State Troopers.

He retired from the Pennsylvania State Police with 25 years of service in 1993.

He was a Navy veteran and also retired from the 171st Maintenance Squadron, Pennsylvania Air National Guard, Coraopolis, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by an infant brother, Gerald Pike.

Surviving are his wife, Carol A. (Marker) Pike whom he married on November 25, 1967; three sons: James W. Pike Jr. (Michelle) of Gloucester, Virginia, Jonathan W. Pike (Maryann) of Blairsville, Pa., Jeffrey S. Pike (fiancée, Cheyenna Deal), Norfolk, Virginia; three grandchildren: Becca Pike, Nathaniel Pike and Timothy James; two brothers: Dennis Pike (Marlene) of McClellandtown, Pa., and Kevin Pike (Kathy) of McClellandtown, Pa.; and a sister, Kathy King (Tim) of Olmstead Falls, Ohio.

The family will receive friends today, May 25, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at SHOEMAKER FUNERAL HOME INC., 49 North Walnut Street, Blairsville, PA 15717 (724.459.9115).

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 26, at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 100 Good Shepherd Drive, Kent, Pa., with Rev. Father Thomas A. Federline as Celebrant.

Private interment will be in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, Washington County, Pa., with Full Military Rites.

Memorial contributions in Jim’s name may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Post Office Box 99, Kent, PA 15752.
