Police accuse two men with assault, firing shots

2 min read

State police have accused two men of assaulting and firing shots at a Fairchance man among others Saturday morning in Georges Township.

Police allege that Michael St. Clair set up a meeting on Weavers Mill Road with George Edward Wolfe, 24, of Republic and Dirk Preston Wolfe, 34, of Uniontown so that the men could work out their problems.

The complaint said when George Wolfe got out of his vehicle, he allegedly aimed a pistol and fired several rounds in St. Clair’s direction.

Police allege that George Wolfe then gave the pistol to Dirk Wolfe, who fired the gun several more times in St. Clair’s direction before pointing the gun at him and Donald R. Smitley, Alicia K. Lowe, Joshua St. Clair and Rebecca L. Flatt.

The complaint said St. Clair and George Wolfe allegedly got into a fight where St. Clair suffered a few superficial face wounds. St. Clair and his friends then fled to a residence in Smithfield and contacted police, the complaint said.

Police recovered five .40-caliber shells at the scene and a pistol with George and Dirk Wolfe were taken into custody. Police did not say if the two men are related to one another.

According to court documents, George and Dirk Wolfe were charged with five counts of aggravated assault, five counts of making terroristic threats, five counts of recklessly endangering another person and possessing a firearm without a license. George Wolfe was also charged with simple assault and harassment.

They were arraigned Saturday by Magisterial District Judge Richard Kasunic II, who set each of their bonds at $50,000. The men remain in Fayette County Prison.
