27 voters provided with incorrect ballots

Provisional ballots will be made available to voters in two districts in Fayette County who cast votes on incorrect ballots this morning.

Election bureau director Larry Blosser and county solicitor Sheryl R. Heid appeared before President Judge John F. Wagner Jr. to secure the court’s permission to make provisional ballots available to 11 voters in Jefferson Township and 16 voters in Lower Tyrone Township.

“You have an affirmative obligation to be certain they get that ballot,” said Wagner to Blosser and Heid.

They will try to contact the 27 combined voters by phone, or alternatively by mail. Wagner directed Blosser and Heid to drive to the homes of the voters who don’t respond to correspondence by post.

Heid confirmed that the flawed ballots listed the wrong information for state representative race.

According to the filed motion, it was discovered around 10 a.m. that one of the voting machines in Lower Tyrone Township was programmed for the incorrect representative district, showing the ballot for Jefferson Township instead.

In Jefferson Township, it was discovered around 8:15 a.m. that their voting machines were incorrectly programmed for Henry Clay Township, according to court papers.
