Woman convicted of involuntary manslaughter
Dayna McMaster of Brownsville was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the 2009 stabbing death of Clarence Blair III.
McMaster, 37, was on trial for a second time in Blair’s death. Four years ago, she was convicted of third-degree murder; however, an appeals court granted her a new trial, noting that her trial attorney should have presented additional evidence of domestic abuse.
During the new trial, conducted this week in Fayette County Court, jurors heard from McMaster, her children and an expert who said she was abused by Blair during their relationship and suffered from battered persons syndrome.
