Cato Fashions, a specialty retailer of women’s fashions and accessories, recently opened a new store in Uniontown in the same plaza as Home Depot.

A new women’s clothing store, Cato Fashions, held its grand opening in South Union Township on Oct. 20.

After the Cato’s in Waynesburg closed about six years ago, the nearest store location has been in Morgantown, W.Va..

“We looked at this spot over a year ago and noticed the area was growing,” said Adrienne Ewing, store manager.

Cato Fashions is a women’s clothing and accessory store, and district manager in-training Marcia Pritchard said the store is known for three things: producing high-quality clothing, its low prices, and for its fashion.

“The clothing style here is conservative, yet very fashionable,” said Ewing.

The store offers clothing in junior/misses and plus sizes, and receives new trends each week.

“Ten years ago, I was drawn to the Morgantown Cato’s,” said Deidre Strait, of Morgantown, who is known at Cato’s as a VIP customer. “A lot of shirts they make anymore are thin. They have choices here for better quality shirts that aren’t tissue. I always get a lot of compliments on the clothes I buy from here.”

A one-stop shop for women, the store also offers shoes, shapewear, fragrance and accessories including handbags, wallets, belts, jewelry, scarves and winte r wear accessories.

Pritchard said the store is in a great location as it is next to other value-type stores.

“The price tag has two prices. The top price is the mall price, and the bottom price is our price, which is always the lowest.”

In fact, because of Cato’s low prices Pritchard said the store does not offer coupons in order to keep prices as low as possible. Instead, the store features three mark-downs each month on various items.

Since November 2013, Cato’s has also been available for online shopping. Customers may choose to pick up their purchases in-store for free, or for a $6.95 flat rate shipping.

The mainly east coast-driven store was first opened in 1976. There are now more than 1,300 Cato Fashions in the country stretching as far west as Las Vegas, and as far south as Florida and Texas.

Cato Fashions is located at 123 Matthews Drive in Uniontown in Widewaters Commons.
