Charges for a Uniontown man accused of robbery were held Thursday for Fayette County Court.

Juanya Knopsnider, 18, is charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and corruption of a minor, according to court documents. He was arraigned Sunday by Magisterial District Judge Ronald J. Haggerty Jr., who set bond at $50,000. Knopsnider remains in Fayette County Prison. His preliminary hearing was Thursday before Haggerty.

Connellsville police allege that Knopsnider and a 14-year-old juvenile, who police did not name, robbed Dale Naugle, no address provided, Sunday morning on Lincoln Avenue.

The complaint said that one of the men allegedly put a gun to Naugle’s head and said, “Give us your money.”

Police allege that Naugle gave the men his cellphone and wallet, which contained $200, various cards and his driver’s license.

Police said during the course of the investigation, Naugle’s wallet and cellphone were recovered from a residence on Lincoln Avenue. Police allege that Knopsnider’s accomplice, the juvenile, gave written and verbal statements that he conspired with Knopsnider to assault and rob Naugle.

In August, robbery charges in an unrelated incident were dismissed against Knopsnider,.

Polilce allege that Knopsider was allegedly an accomplice in a robbery with Cody Darrell, 19, of Connellsville, when they threatened Bryan Martin with a knife and handgun June 13 near the basketball courts at Gibson Terrace apartments in Connellsville.

City police Chief Jim Capitos alleged the pair stole about $170 from Martin before they fled the scene.

Darrell allegedly assaulted Martin before he put him in a choke hold while holding a knife in his hand.

According to the complaint, Darrell then allegedly put a gun to the back of Martin’s head and told him he would kill him if he did not empty his pockets.

Martin took $170 from his pockets.

The complaint said Knopsnider stood beside Martin with a pocket knife and told him that he could not help him.

Darrell and Knopsnider allegedly picked up the money and fled the scene, the complaint said.

According to the criminal complaint, Darrell and Knopsnider were charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, simple assault, theft, receiving stolen property, harassment, trespassing and making terroristic threats.

All the charges against Knopsnider in that case were dismissed Aug. 21 by Haggerty.
