Nichols named

Teeter Associates of Greensburg recently named Natalie Nichols the company’s vice president. Nichols, a Mount Pleasant native, is a 22-year employee at Teeter, which provides planning, development and fundraising services to regional nonprofits.

Nichols’ recent clients include the Uniontown Area YMCA, Greater Latrobe Partners in Education Foundation, Latrobe Area Hospital Charitable Foundation, Loyalhanna Watershed Association, Outside In School of Experiential Education and Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras.

Businesswoman honored

Pamela Blaker, co-owner of advertising and marketing firm Direct Results BSP Inc. in Waynesburg, was recognized by natural gas industry media outlet Shale Media Group with a Women in Natural Gas (WING) award, which acknowledges the achievements and contributions made by women in the oil and gas industry.

Direct Results, which serves many of the graphics, custom apparel and promotional needs of the region’s energy industry, offers custom apparel with screen printing and embroidery, commercial signage and vinyl products, vehicle graphics and decals, promotional products and professional graphic designs.

Talk scheduled

Dennis Yablonsky, CEO of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, will be the featured speaker for this month’s CEO Conversations at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, at noon Nov. 19.

A former Cincom Systems and Carnegie Group executive, Yablonsky served as secretary of the state Department of Community and Economic Development from 2003 to 2008.

The event, which is free of charge and open to the public, will take place in the university’s student center on the lower level of the Williams Building.

Course offered

Penn State Extension will offer a food safety training course to help food establishments meet a state Department of Agriculture requirement to employ a supervisory employee with food safety training and accreditation in compliance with the state Food Employee Certification Act. Food service establishments that must comply with the act include restaurants, food vendors and snack bars, among others.

The course will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 5 and Nov. 12 at the Penn State Extension office in Greensburg. An exam, which attendees must pass to complete the course, will be held at 4 p.m. Nov. 18. The course fee is $175 per person and pre-registration is required. Branch opening

Scottdale Bank and Trust Co. announced it will open a branch office at 632 W. Main St. in Mount Pleasant early next year. The branch will host a grand opening in February.

Webinar set

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and Agility Recovery will offer a free webinar from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday to provide tips on how to protect a business’ core operations and revenue flow market value, as well as how to establish planning strategies and financial resilience.

Ribbon cutting

New Geneva Stoneware will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday to celebrate the re-opening of the store. The business, located at 840 Main St. in McClellandtown, will operate under new management after the retirement of its previous owners in July.

Employee awarded

Nonprofit health network Cornerstone Care recognized TeleTech employee Jill Seder for her outstanding support and contribution to the network’s breast health project and outreach programs.

Seder, human capital wellness navigator at TeleTech in Uniontown, received the award for her role in securing health services — including free breast exams and mobile dental services — for TeleTech employees, as well as helping uninsured employees and their families find health insurance.

Firm recognized

Pittsburgh-based financial intermediary Bridgeway Capital was selected as a finalist for the inaugural Small Business Leader Award for Mission Driven-Lenders, a national award sponsored Goldman Sachs, the Surdna Foundation and Opportunity Finance Network.

Bridgeway Capital, an organization that provides small business loans and business education opportunities to businesses in southwestern Pennsylvania, was one of four finalists chosen from 36 mission-driven lenders from across the country with established track records of social impact and fiscal strength.

First and second place awards went to the New York Business Development Corp. and the California-based Opportunity Fund, respectively.
