Marlin Wendell “Dave” Davison
Marlin Wendell Davison, fondly known as Dave, age 80, of Lititz, Pennsylvania went to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness Saturday, November 15, 2014.
Born in Shady Grove, North Union Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Wendell Davison and Thelma (Ridley) Davison and was married to Betty Axe Mellott Davison with whom he celebrated 39 years of marriage.
After high school, he came to Lancaster to attend Thaddeus Stevens Trade School for three years and later joined the United States Army serving for two years.
He retired 18 years ago from Armstrong World Industries, Research and Development Center as a Lab Craftsman with almost 42 years service.
Marlin was a member of Conestoga Valley Church of Christ in Lancaster, Gettysburg Battlefield Resort, Good Sam Club, Armstrong Lab Associates.
As a loving husband he and his wife, Betty loved to camp and ride bicycles most weekends spring thru fall, of their over 50 years together, starting with a tent and ending with their retirement vehicle.
As a loving grandfather he and Betty enjoyed taking the grandchildren on some of those camping weekends.
They spent January thru March of the first 15 years of retirement traveling in their motor home to Florida and Myrtle Beach until he became too ill for the long drive.
He loved doing yardwork.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael J. Axe, M.D., of Newark, Delaware; two sisters: Jenny Lee wife of Bob Zele of Uniontown, Pennsylvania and Shirley wife of Darwin Sproul of Hopwood, Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren: Dr. Jeremy Axe, Matthew Axe, and Michelle Axe.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Marlin’s Funeral Service on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at CONESTOGA VALLEY CHURCH OF CHRIST, 2045 Horseshoe Road, Lancaster, Pennsylvania with Pastor Jeff Werkheiser officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Service.
Interment will take place in Conestoga Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions in Marlin’s name in lieu of other tokens of sympathy may be made to Conestoga Valley Church of Christ, 2045 Horseshoe Road, Lancaster, PA 17602.
