John Matthew Hamborsky
John Matthew Hamborsky, age 75, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania passed away on Monday evening, November 24, 2014 in the Uniontown Hospital.
He was born on Friday September 1, 1939 in Lambert, Fayette County, Pennsylvania the son of John Francis Hamborsky and Louise Geraldine (Blanc) Hamborsky.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, William and Dorothy in infancy, Ruth G. Petrun, Robert Hamborsky and Edward Hamborsky; and a sister-in-law, Mary Hamborsky.
John was a member of Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church.
He graduated from the now former German Township High School, Class of 1957.
He enlisted in the Pennsylvania State Police on Thursday, April 13, 1967 and was posted to Troop T Gibsonia and Highspire Everette.
He was promoted to Corporal in 1972, to Sergeant in 1977, then to Troop B Washington Traffic Sergeant.
He was Troop B Waynesburg Station Commander and then Troop B Uniontown Staff Services.
He retired on Saturday February 25, 1995.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 47, the Retired State Police Association of Pennsylvania, the Springdale Seniors Golf Association and the Springdale Golf Club, and the Fayette County Seniors Golf Association.
He was a United States Veteran of the Army where he earned the rank of Sergeant E5. He was a member of the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood and the American Legion Post 0423 in Masontown.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Pauline Ann (Ciampanelli) Hamborsky, whom he married Saturday, May 25, 1963. She was his loving life-long partner.
He is also survived by his loving children: John Hamborsky and his wife Allison of Blacksburg, Virginia, Cheryl A. Goodwin and her husband Bruce of Uniontown, Pa., Gregory Hamborsky and his wife Terrie of Uniontown, Pa., James Hamborsky and fiancé Flora Papageorgia of Uniontown, Pa.; loving grandchildren: John Charles and Alexis Hamborsky, Kayla and Benjamin Goodwin, and Alex Hamborsky; his sister, Mary Lou Cantini and her husband Regis of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Maria Hamborsky of Zelienople Pa.; a special niece, Melinda Hamborsky of Masontown, Pa.; other loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Friends will be received in KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., Friday, November 28, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday morning until 9:15 a.m. when parting prayers will be said.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, 61 Mill Street, with Monsignor Michael W. Matusak, V.F., Pastor, as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
Military Honors will be accorded at graveside by the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood.
Parish Wake Service will be held in funeral home Friday at 3:00 p.m.
Fraternal Order of Police Service will be held in Funeral Home on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
